[Editor's note: from time to time I will post a recent presentation that reflects my most recent research, understanding, and opinions on various matters of agricultural and resource law, particularly as it impacts agricultural land use and production]
This past Saturday at AB Tech Community College in Asheville I was privileged to present at the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project's annual Business of Farming conference. This year I was invited to provide an overview of various land use topics in agricultural production. The presentation - Select Land Use Laws in Farming - covers land use and access regulations and issues, including sales and property tax, bona fide farm zoning and building permits, fencing and trespass, neighbor complaints, access easements, leased land, restrictive covenants, and more.
Linked within the presentation are more in-depth looks at select topics, as well as Extension fact sheets with even more detail and citation. All are hosted here on the Farm Law portal and searchable.
